If you run the Mallory Pro Cap and rotor setup on your Super Mag, here is something you'll really like!
Besides being very expensive, Mallory's cap and rotor can be hard to get when you need it. They're only manufactured a couple of times a year and they can be back ordered for weeks and weeks.
This conversion kit will adapt the readily available, much less expensive MSD cap and rotor to your Super Mag. It includes the adapter ring, steel rotor adapter plate (choose rotation), cap, rotor and cap hold down clips. The next time you need a cap and rotor, buy them both together for only $35!! This conversion will pay for itself quickly from the savings on caps and rotors.
This cap and rotor setup needs NO silicone to insulate the adapter ring screws from the rotor path like the Mallory stuff. The large MSD rotor shields the screws and provides enough spacing to make the goo unnecessary.
This MSD Cap provides the same spacing between the terminals as the Mallory Pro cap. The terminals are on a 4" diameter and the outer diameter of the cap plastic is 4.9".
The MSD cap and rotor are plenty capable of handling an 8+ amp Super Mag. This blue rotor replaces not only the regular 9000 Series Pro rotor, but also Mallory's brown "high-temp" model for the high output Super Mags. Many racers use this cap and rotor combination on the Pro Mag 20 and 44, so it's high voltage capability is proven.
Spark plug wires falling off the mag is not generally a problem for folks, but if you like, you can add the optional black plastic plug wire retainer ring. This ring screws down in place of the cap hold-down clips.
